Animal Experience Days: Ever wondered how a zoo keeper spends their day? The Bristol Zoo
Keeper for a Day experience is the perfect day out for any animal
lovers, and is a great chance to find out more about exactly what
is involved in caring for the animals at the award winning Bristol
Zoo. Throughout the day, you will have the chance to get up-close
and personal with some of the 400 species at Bristol Zoo.
Feeding, cleaning and animal enrichment will feature throughout the
day, and your Zoo Keeper experience will see you work in four
primary and varied settings. Your day will include working in the
Bristol Zoo ectotherm, where you will be shown how to care for the
animals in the aquarium, the reptiles, the Butterfly Forest and Bug
World. At the Presentations setting, you will meet the fur seals
which call Bristol Zoo their home. Another one of the settings will
have you interacting with the primates, where you will be able to
observe first-hand many of the behavioural similarities we share
with other primate species. During your time with the mammals, you
will also visit Zona Brazil, where many species from the threatened
rainforests of Brazil are kept, including Goeldi monkeys. Bristol
Zoo Birds is another one of the exciting settings of your day,
where you will be given the opportunity to feed the penguins,
interact with all the birds on site, and explore the animal food
stores.
This unique experience will not see you walk home empty handed
either. Before finishing your day as a Zoo Keeper, you will be
given souvenir gifts, including a specially designed fleece,
guidebook and a complimentary guest ticket for Bristol Zoo, valid
for a friend or family member on the day of your experience. So, if
you have ever found yourself wondering what it takes to be a Zoo
Keeper, or would simply like the opportunity to get up-close with
the animals of Bristol Zoo, this experience is not one to miss!
